Michael Wiederkehr, MD, FAAD

Dr. Michael Wiederkehr earned his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, after graduating from Yeshiva University Summa Cum Laude. Following medical school, Dr. Wiederkehr completed his internship at Johns Hopkins/Sinai. He completed his dermatology residency at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and was later promoted to Chief Resident of dermatology at the New Jersey Medical School before moving on to work in private practice in New Jersey. Dr. Wiederkehr is a board-certified dermatologist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is on staff at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ.
Dr. Wiederkehr has received several awards including top doctor in New Jersey Monthly magazine and Jewish Standard readers’ choice award. He has published articles in textbooks and medical research journals. In addition to being passionate about dermatology, Dr. Wiederkehr enjoys spending time with his family and volunteering in many communal organizations.

Carmen Garcia, MD, FAAD

Dr. Carmen J. Garcia is a board certified dermatologist who is fluent in English and Spanish; she practices general dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, and dermatologic surgery in both pediatric and adult patients.
Dr. Garcia graduated Summa Cum Laude from Douglass College and received her medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. She completed her Internal Medicine residency and became board certified in Internal Medicine in 1980. She then entered the residency program in dermatology at Columbia University and St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, where she was chief resident. She became board certified in dermatology in 1982. She is an inductee of the Phi Beta Kappa National Honors Society.
Dr. Garcia is an Associate Attending in Dermatology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, Hackensack University Medical Center, and Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the New Jersey Dermatology Society.

Lisa M Micik, MPAS, PA-C

Lisa M Micik is a board certified dermatology physician assistant who specializes in medical and cosmetic dermatology of the skin, hair ,and nails. She has been practicing for 11 years.
She graduated from Kings College in Wilkes-barre, PA with a B.S. in medical studies and a Masters in physician assistant studies. Lisa is certified by the National commission of certification of physician assistants and national board of medical examiners. Lisa is licensed in New York and New jersey. She is a fellow member of the society of dermatology physician assistants, American academy of physician assistants, and new York and new jersey dermatology physician assistants.
As an experienced, licensed Dermatology Physician Assistant, Lisa works closely with patients to teach them about their dermatological conditions and their treatment options. Her training and experience has earned her extensive knowledge of topical and oral medications and their indications in common conditions. Lisa is trained and has experience in injected neurotoxins: Botox , Dysport, Xeomin and Fillers: Juvederm, Restylane, Restylane Silk, Perlane, Belotero, Voluma, and Radiesse.

Miriam Fox, PA-C

Miriam Fox is a board-certified Dermatology Physician Assistant who specializes in medical and cosmetic Dermatology of the skin, hair, and nails.

She graduated from Barnard College in New York, NY with a B.A. in Psychology, Cum Laude; and from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY with a B.S. in Physician Assistant Studies, Cum Laude.

Miriam is certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the National Board of Medical Examiners in New York and New Jersey. She is a fellow member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and American Academy of Physician Assistants.

As a licensed and board-certified Physician Assistant, Miriam works closely with patients to diagnose, treat, and teach about their dermatological conditions and treatment options.

In addition to being passionate about Dermatology, Miriam is a certified yoga instructor and is interested in organic health, wellness, and environmentally conscious  “green” living.

Eduard Raklyar, MD, FAAD

After graduating summa cum laude from the City University of New York, Dr. Eduard Raklyar earned his medical degree, magna cum laude, from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine. He then completed his internship in internal medicine and his dermatology residency at Georgetown University at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Raklyar was then awarded a fellowship in dermatologic (Mohs) surgery at the University of British Columbia, Skin Surgery Centre, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Dr. Raklyar is a Phi Beta Kappa recipient, an associate of the American College of Mohs Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the Dermatology Foundation.

Dr David Ciocon MD, FAAD

Dr. David Ciocon received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University (cum laude) and his M.D. from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Prior to his residency in dermatology, he completed three years of a combined general and plastic surgery residency training at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital as well as a one-year clinical research fellowship in psoriasis at Harvard University, Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He subsequently completed his dermatology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident and recipient of the Leo M. Davidoff Award for Excellence in Teaching. He then completed a Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology fellowship at Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey under Dr. David Goldberg. He has written multiple publications with respect to surgical and non-surgical approaches to aesthetic rejuvenation.

After working in private practice between 2010 and 2013 in the states of NJ, NY, and CT, where he performed more than 2000 Mohs surgeries and reconstructions, he was recently appointed Director of Dermatologic Surgery, Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology at the Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  He has also been appointed Director of Clinical Operations of the Dermatology Division of the Montefiore Medical Center. He is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology. He is a member the American College of Mohs Surgery. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy. His clinical interests include Mohs Micrographic surgery, facial reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, laser-assisted tumescent liposuction, autologous fat transfer, laser medicine, and minimally invasive cosmetic dermatology.

Zac Handler, MD

Zac Handler, M.D. is a board-certified academic dermatologist, fellowship trained Mohs surgeon, and acclaimed lecturer. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Handler is also an assistant clinical professor in dermatology at Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School.  He served as a Fellow in the United States House of Representatives, and crafted cost-neutral legislation to combat HIV infection. He has received the Congressional Recognition Award three times, from bipartisan House members for his work on health care policy, and was named a Nebraska Admiral, by the Governor of the State of Nebraska, in recognition of service to the community. He has worked for the American Journal of Preventive Medicine and has been a medical volunteer at both the Indianapolis 500 and Nebraska Special Olympics. He has experience with medical news production, having worked with Sanjay Gupta, M.D. at CNN’s medical unit, assisting with medical programming. Additionally, he has been a medical contributor for the Discovery Health program, “Dr. G: Medical Examiner”.

Dr. Handler is a recipient of the prestigious Tatotsu Imaeda M.D. Ph.D. Academic Scholar Award for his extensive academic work, which includes greater than 30 peer-reviewed publications and 5 book chapters. He has been nominated multiple times for the respected Golden Apple Award, in recognition of medical student mentorship. Dr. Handler is the only person to be first author on back-to-back cover articles in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, the leading American journal in the specialty of dermatology.

Focused on improving health care access both locally and abroad, Dr. Handler has provided volunteer medical care with Project MediShare in earthquake stricken Port-au-Prince, Haiti. While in Haiti, Dr. Handler donated his own blood to the Red Cross blood bank in order to secure blood for a patient. His experience in Haiti led to an invitation to assist the House Foreign Affairs Committee, in Washington, D.C., on USAID expenditures. He has since been a volunteer physician at the HIV hospital in Accra, Ghana and a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Hoboken, New Jersey. Dr. Handler has been an invited guest lecturer around the globe, including Montenegro, New York, Miami, Kuwait, Iran, and Jordan. Dr. Handler holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, San Diego, and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Handler completed a research fellowship in pediatric dermatology at the University of Miami with department chairman, Dr. Lawrence Schachner, author of Pediatric Dermatology. He completed his residency in dermatology at Rutgers University with Dr. Robert A. Schwartz, providing needed care for the underserved patients of Newark, New Jersey and military veterans at the East Orange Veterans hospital. He was selected to serve as the program’s Chief Resident his senior year. He completed a Mohs micrographic surgery and Procedural Dermatology fellowship at Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of NY and NJ.

Xuan Wang, MD

Dr. Xuan Wang is a board-certified Anatomic Pathologist with subspecialty board in Dermatopathology.  She received a Bachelor of Medicine degree at Shanghai Medical University in China, and a Ph.D. in Biology at Brandeis University in Massachusetts.  Dr. Wang completed residency training in Anatomic Pathology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College.  She subsequently pursued fellowship training in Dermatopathology with Dr. Cynthia Magro and Dr. Klaus Busam at the combined program between Weill Cornell Medical College and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  Prior to residency training, Dr. Wang conducted research in Skin Biology at the Rockefeller University.  She has published several peer-reviewed journal articles relating to skin pathology and skin biology.

Besides her appointment at Metropolitan Dermatology, Dr. Wang is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College, and an Attending Pathologist at the Laboratory of Dermatopathology of Aurora Diagnostics, where she serves as the Medical Director
